The HEart of Art City

Since its founding, Springville has viewed art as an essential part of everyday life, believing beauty and creativity can uplift society. “Art City” was built upon this belief with the establishment of the Springville Museum of Art, which now serves as the foundation and driving force behind our City’s robust public art program and innovative initiatives like The Art Loops.

The Museum’s unique origin story begins in the early 1900s with the Springville Art Movement, a group of community members with a shared vision to empower local youth through art. The group initiated an art collection for the local high school, procuring donations from renowned American artists Cyrus E. Dallin and John Hafen. Students became deeply engaged in growing the collection, which ultimately led to the school hosting a nationally acclaimed Annual Art Exhibit known as the Spring Salon.

The student’s enthusiasm, combined with strong community support, is responsible for the Museum of Art we know today, which was originally built to house the high school’s impressive collection. While it continues to honor its founders over 100 years later with the annual Spring Salon, the Museum has evolved to boast a permanent collection of over 2,700 works from Utah, American and Soviet artists. It is the cultural cornerstone of our community serving over 100,000 visitors annually through juried exhibitions, educational lectures, concerts and more.
